V&A Pop-Up Shop

Walking from the tube on my way to work on Friday I was woken by the sight of this shop window. It a spears that on Sunday 20 July to celebrate the V&A’s year of fashion and the major exhibitions The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014 and Wedding Dresses 1775-2014, there will be a a one-off shopping opportunity and a specially curated day of fashion activities taking place in the V&A’s Fashion Pop-Up as part of Regent Street’s Summer Streets Festival.

Located in the Quadrant Arcade on Regent Street, near Piccadilly Circus doors open at 11am offering a special selection of fashion accessories, jewellery, prints, V&A books, stationery and exclusive products for sale, inspired by the Museum’s extensive and stunning fashion and textiles collections.

You will also be given the opportunity to take part in free fashion illustration workshops lead by CreateVoice, the V&A’s youth collective, and illustrator Stuart McKenzie. Running every half hour from 12.00, you can learn key illustration skills.

The work of illustrator and animator Lesley Barnes will also be on display. Barnes has been commissioned by the V&A to design exclusive fashion illustrations inspired by Italian style and surface pattern, which has been applied to a capsule collection for the shop.

Other Summer Streets activities taking place on 20 July include live performances from Tiempo Libre, The Notables and the Fabulous Lounge Swingers on the Camper Van Stage, and a fashion catwalk down Regent Street offering budding models and fashion enthusiasts the opportunity to show off their own style and experience being part of a professional runway show.
