John Lewis is celebrating 150 years since John Spedan Lewis opened his first department store.

In celebration, the Oxford St branch has opened a roof garden designed by Tony Woods 2013 RHS Young Garden Designer of the Year. His winning design conveyed how you can achieve tranquillity and escape, even in an urban garden.

The Roof Garden is accessible through the shop and is open daily 10am – 4pm (Sunday 11.30am – 4pm) .

And while escaping the hustle and bustle of the city up on the roof, enjoy a refreshing juice, tea or coffee and a bite to eat from Joe the Juice.

There’s also a 150 years anniversary exhibition on the 3rd floor, which runs until 23 June.
